Albert Spechar, 58, was ejected and landed in the middle of the roadway of the eastbound highway after hitting a four-point buck shortly after 5:30 a.m., responders said.
Spechar was later pronounced dead at the scene just past the Margaret Street overpass near Teaneck High School, they said.
The motorcycle landed on its side near a bus shelter further on up the road.
The eastbound highway remained closed through the morning rush, with backups through Paramus, as the Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigations investigated along with the Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification, which collected evidence.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella confirmed this morning's Daily Voice account shortly after 5 p.m. Monday:
"Just before 5:45 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, Teaneck Police responded to a report of an accident on eastbound Route 4 at Teaneck Road involving a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old man from River Vale, NJ, had struck a deer while traveling eastbound on the highway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton. No additional information is available at this time."
